Steven Halliday

Web Editor , STAMMA, the British Stammering Association

Steven has been involved in the charity sector for 12 years. After volunteering at the British Stammering Association (BSA) to help with his own stammer, he was invited to provide administrative maternity cover. The post became permanent, and he took on additional roles as social media officer and magazine editor. Due to staffing cuts, he took up a fixed term role at Macmillan Cancer Support for almost 2 years, where he edited cancer information booklets and web content. After a brief spell of travelling, he returned to volunteer at the BSA, which was undergoing a major change in leadership, with Jane Powell, founder of CALM, taking over the reins. Jane asked Steven aboard as Web Editor to help create and run the new website for the radically rebranded STAMMA. The next year, 2020, STAMMA won 3 Third Sector awards for brand development, volunteer of the year and chair of the year, and has big ambitions for making society more accepting of stammering.
