Frontline Team

Working Chance

Working Chance is the UK’s only employment charity solely for women with convictions. Our frontline team, half of whom have lived experience, delivers a unique service that helps women build confidence and self-esteem and move towards or into employment, while also influencing employers to embrace inclusive hiring by bringing people with convictions into their workforces.

Last year, the team supported 248 women across England and Wales, with no reports of any of those women going on to reoffend. Notably, 90% of those placed in jobs remained employed after 12 months. Client satisfaction is extremely high: 92% would recommend the service, 89% felt more hopeful about the future, and 78% believed the service couldn’t be improved.

The team are passionate about convincing employers to see the person and their potential, rather than focusing on the crime. Each one of them embodies the belief that when someone has served their sentence, they should be given the chance to prove themselves and build a different life. They know only too well that a person who starts to believe that their life is worth something and that they have something to give is far less likely to return to crime.
