Media Trust

Media Trust works in partnership with the media and creative industries to give charities, young people and marginalised communities a stronger voice. We pride ourselves on our sensitive and thoughtful approach to charity filmmaking. Media Trust's Volunteer Films is an innovative and award-winning short film project. We work with some of the industry's most creative directors, producers, cameramen and editors. We pair them together with frontline charities projects to make powerful and engaging charity films that can be widely shared.

One such film was produced in 2019 by creative powerhouse Michaela Lowe and her team for Doorstep Library. Doorstep Library is a literacy charity that believes in the power of words to take children places, not just in their imagination, but in their lives. They want to see a world where all children can thrive in homes in which books are celebrated and a love of reading is embraced. With one in four 11-year-olds leaving primary school unable to read or write properly, they recruit and train volunteers to go into the homes of some of the most disadvantaged families in London to help introduce young children to the pleasure of reading.
