Wes Cunliffe

Calan DVS

Since joining Calan DVS in September 2024, Wes has made a remarkable impact supporting male survivors of domestic abuse through the Compass Programme. This specialist initiative helps men process their experiences and rebuild confidence in a safe, supportive space. Wes brings deep knowledge of domestic abuse and its effects, alongside empathy and emotional intelligence that truly set him apart.

His efforts have earned heartfelt praise from participants and contributed significantly to Calan’s RESPECT accreditation for work with male victims, with no improvements requested on his assessed work. Beyond group sessions, Wes drives innovation — developing a podcast series to raise awareness, and collaborating with the University of South Wales to shape stalking interventions for young people.

A dedicated campaigner against knife crime for over eight years, Wes continues to support young people while championing male survivors. He’s known for his compassion, creativity, and hands-on support — often travelling to meet individuals in need.

In just a few short months, Wes has demonstrated the qualities of a true rising star: resilient, forward-thinking, and driven by purpose. His commitment is transforming lives and helping to redefine the landscape of male domestic abuse support in Wales.
