This was a project of necessity and significant risk. The biggest risk being that while people in prison were in their cells for 23+ hours a day, their mental health might deteriorate with no one listening. People in the community were losing many support services and there was fear of being recalled to prison if they didn't report to now closed offices.
Our corona response needed to be beyond exceptional. This is a demographic of people who are notoriously hard or 'impossible' to reach.
So, we did the impossible. We've spoken to over 2418 people. A quarter of them asking for mental health support, 87% feeling frustrated, 83% feeling isolated, 80% feeling stressed.
We created space for all of them to be heard, listened to and to use their feedback for system change.
