Time To Be Out

Time To Be Out is a truly small charity with 0 staff, 7 Trustees and 16 Volunteers.

They support LGBT+ Asylum Seekers and Refugees, now on a national scale. “We are working for a world where people do not need to flee from their own country because they are at risk of attack on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity. However, for as long as LGBT+ people do need to seek asylum and refuge in the UK, Time To Be Out aims to support them and be advocates on their behalf”. Not only do they face a growing list of people who need support for longer (due to asylum case back-logs), but this last year has seen a marked increase in inflammatory language and misinformation about both Asylum Seekers and Trans communities. It is under this hostile environment that Time To Be out faces increasing challenges to fundraise, to change public perception, and to adapt to ever-changing and worsening policy for those who have already endured the worst persecution. However, in the face of such massive challenges, this small charity punches above its weight to secure a safe and stable future for those who need it most.
