Partnership to Create the World's First Rare Dementia Support Centre
The National Brain Appeal and Rare Dementia Support
The National Brain Appeal and Rare Dementia Support are working in partnership together to create the world's first Rare Dementia Support Centre, establishing a centre of excellence for supporting those living with inherited, atypical and young-onset dementias, based in Woburn Square, London. Construction has begun in May 2025, following a six-year fundraising campaign and partnership that formally began in 2019 but whose seeds began in the 1990's. By working together with people affected by rare dementias, the centre will provide social, emotional and practical support alongside research and training about rare dementias. By increasing awareness about these conditions, The National Brain Appeal and Rare Dementia Support aim to empower communities to better support everyone affected by a rare dementia diagnosis. The National Brain Appeal supports RDS’ vision for all individuals with, at risk of or supporting someone with one of these forms of dementia to have access to information, tailored support and guidance, and contact with others affected by similar conditions. The centre will act as a global exemplar of how best to support people living with dementias.
