Don't Panic London

This film led to the highest single day of donations in the history of Shelter.

When we think of homelessness, we often think of the person on the street. Christmas 2020, partly due to the pandemic, saw a drastic increase in people living out of their cars; constantly having to move around to comply with different parking restrictions, finding themselves in often dangerous locations, never able to be comfortable. We scripted a film based on the many Shelter case studies stories we had read. We wanted the viewer to enjoy meeting this mother and daughter; to relate to them, to sing along to Wham’s ‘Last Christmas with them, even to smile with them - before the stark reality of their situation was revealed. The misdirect was key, a reminder that unfortunate circumstances are often down to luck and homelessness could happen to anyone.
