The Community Impact Initiative
1. Property purchase: We purchase long-term empty homes in communities affected by the housing crisis, where residents face high levels of poverty, unemployment, and social isolation.
2. Community engagement: With each housing renovation, community members are supported to learn new skills, improve their wellbeing, achieve qualifications, and find a path to employment.
3. Partnerships: Throughout the regeneration process, we work with environmental experts to ensure our regeneration activities have a sustained positive impact on the environment.
4. Return to the market: Once completed, our properties are either sold, with all profits reinvested into our community activities, or used in partnership with local authorities to house vulnerable people.
Many of the participants we supported this year have experienced some of the most significant levels of poverty, mental health challenges and social inactivity we have ever seen. In spite of this, The Cii has supported over 100 participants this year to make positive life changes, more than we ever have before. ‘I wouldn't have been able to get this apprenticeship without you guys.’ – Connor, Participant
