The Children's Hospital Charity

The Children’s Hospital Charity’s three-strong marketing team supports the organisation’s mission to fund enhancements above and beyond standard NHS provision for Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Money raised through donations funds four key areas; medical equipment, research, new facilities and improvements to the environment. Prior to March 2020, the Charity’s fundraising activity was heavily based on social interaction. Corporate income streams relied on traditional activities, including workplace fundraising and products sold in non-essential retail. Other previously popular activities including hosting charity balls and large scale in-person events suddenly proved impossible. With income projected to fall as much as 70%, The Marketing Team very quickly launched a raft of online events, produced compelling case study content, emergency appeals, digital solutions and supported each workgroup within the Charity to find new ways to fundraise in times of social distancing. The team also pulled together resources patients could download whilst being treated in isolation as well as resources for families and supporters at home such as nature trails and Theo (the charity’s mascot) bingo. The charity ended up raising over £2.8 million during 2020/21 being down only 30% on income. The supporting documents demonstrate how the team of three achieved an incredible amount last year.
