Supporting Young People's Mental Health

YoungMinds and Marks & Spencers

One in five young people in England are struggling with their mental health, up from one in nine in 2017. With rising need and record demand for services, too many young people are without support.

YoungMinds, the UK’s leading youth mental health charity, partnered with retailer M&S in October 2023. With a goal to raise £5million in three years, the partnership also aims to raise awareness of the support available through YoungMinds, encourage customers and colleagues to take action to support the young people in their lives and expand the reach of YoungMinds Hello Yellow campaign.

Since launch, M&S has mobilised its products and people behind the cause, aligning its product range, in-store and online communication platforms and engaging 63,000 colleagues and up to 30million customers through awareness campaigns and fundraising. Cause-led product marketing including the Farmhouse Loaves range, Kidswear clothing designed by young people, charity Christmas cards and donations through the Sparks loyalty programme, have engaged millions of customers and families whilst raising vital funds.

In just two years, the partnership has already raised £6.6million (£1.5million 1 June 2025 - 31 May 2026), enabling YoungMinds to support young people and their families over 9million times. M&S’ support has helped YoungMinds reach over 5,000 schools through Hello Yellow 2025, increasing awareness of young people’s mental health and YoungMinds support.

The partnership demonstrates the efforts of a major UK retailer and leading charity to address a critical societal issue – helping ensure no young person feels alone with their mental health.
