stem4 Clear Fear for Schools
stem4
stem4's award-winning Clear Fear app has supported hundreds of thousands of young people globally. However, many students experiencing anxiety never actively seek digital support. CFS was developed to address this gap by embedding the clinically validated app directly within school wellbeing systems.
The programme introduces a hybrid delivery model that combines digital Cognitive Behavioural Therapy-based support with facilitated psychoeducation delivered by school staff. Through Personal Social Health & Economic (PSHE) lessons, staff briefings and structured introductions to the app, students are guided to engage with evidence-based strategies for managing anxiety before difficulties escalate.
Since launch, the programme has been introduced in ten secondary schools, enabling thousands more students to access practical tools to recognise and manage anxious thoughts and behaviours. Schools report improved student confidence in managing anxiety and greater staff confidence in supporting mental health needs.
Importantly, the programme also addresses digital inequality by offering flexible delivery through shared school devices and classroom-based demonstrations.
CFS marks a strategic shift for stem4 from standalone digital dissemination to system-level delivery through trusted institutions. By embedding clinically grounded digital tools within everyday school environments, the programme creates a scalable and cost-effective pathway for early intervention. At a time when demand for youth mental health support is rising rapidly, it demonstrates how digital innovation can extend reach, strengthen prevention, and transform access to evidence-based anxiety support.
