Last year, our most significant impact came through Seed to Stall, a soilless farming project in Burkina Faso. In partnership with local organisations, we supported 200 economically vulnerable women to grow organic vegetables using a low-cost, climate-resilient technique. This method requires no fertile land and minimal water, making it ideal for women with limited resources.
Participants increased their income from £20 to £74, and over 13,800 people consumed produce from the project. The initiative also provided training in sustainable farming, enterprise skills, and group savings. It created meaningful work, improved food security, and restored a sense of agency and dignity.
Seed to Stall gained national media attention, inspired a ministerial visit, and is informing government-backed initiatives to support displaced and widowed women. In our 20th year, this work reflects our commitment to helping people transform their lives — with sustainability, empowerment, and climate resilience at the core.
