Sarcoma UK's small but mighty Communications team are only 2.8 FTE but they have had an amazing 2019-20 helping the charity to its best ever year. The number of patients helped, the amount of research funded and awareness raised have all increased dramatically. The Comms team has played a vital role in helping the charity to increase investment in sarcoma by over 40%, grow the number of patients helped by our Support Line by 43%, increase our income by over 45% and facilitate engagement with our supporters across all of our channels.
At the same time the team has rebranded the organisation, produced engaging reports and campaigns and effectively demonstrated the impact we've had on patients' lives.
Engagement with our supporters has significantly jumped due to a focus on responsive copy and campaigns and an increase in the amount and quality of both our video and print communications.
In December we repeated a National Sarcoma Patient Survey that we last did in 2015 and double the number of patients and their families responded. This dramatic increase was largely due to a first class communications campaign but also because of the closer relationship we have with our supporters and beneficiaries.
