Relate AI Chatbot

IE Digital developed a suite of three AI-powered tools to support separated co-parents, couples, and carers in reducing parental conflict and improving communication for children's wellbeing. The tools, funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) include the: Sounding-board bot, which analyses language in messages to suggest clearer, more empathetic wording and reduce miscommunication. The In-the-middle bot, which provides insights into children's perspectives across various co-parenting scenarios, helping caregivers understand and respond to their needs more effectively. And RelateBot, a chatbot that provides expert co-parenting advice, practical support, and resource recommendations.

This pioneering use of AI is trained using clinically approved documents and safeguarding information, with a focus on helping parents understand how children think and feel. Safety measures include clear user notification about AI interaction, safeguarding training datasets with keywords and patterns to identify potential concerns, and guidance on seeking external help when needed. The tools are designed to empower families to make informed decisions and maintain positive relationships, potentially preventing the need for legal intervention and family court proceedings while prioritising children's wellbeing.
