Refugee Council’s ‘Refugee Crisis 2022 Emergency Appeal’

Refugee Council

When many Ukrainians were forced to flee their homes in Ukraine and seek safety here in the UK, it was clear that urgent support was needed. The invasion of Ukraine followed 6 months after we had mobilised a crisis-appeal for Afghanistan, which meant we were able to turn our service arm around to welcome them. Our aim was to not restrict our appeal and campaign to only helping Ukrainians, but to create an appeal that could support all refugees, regardless of where they were from, and to raise awareness on the issues they face more widely.

Given that Ukrainians were an unrecognised refugee community, it allowed our public fundraising and partnerships team to collaborate on creating an appeal that could reach new audiences. We were able to provide the support needed both to our service users and to other frontline organisations.
