Neil Munday

Susy Radio

Neil Munday is our Volunteer of the Year for his tireless and outstanding contribution to the community with Susy Radio since 2008, a not for profit community radio station broadcasting to East Sussex and North Surrey.

Despite working full-time, Neil gains the station an income as well as covering engineering work often responding at short notice, does the outside broadcasts and presents when he can, often over Bank Holidays and special events. Without Neil’s dedication and commitment, Susy Radio would not have been able to be there 24/7 all year for listeners, many elderly and vulnerable, with radio being their connection to the world outside. Passionate about community engagement and reducing social isolation for listeners that can't get out to events, Neil also records activities such as Remembrance events in all weathers outside and carol services from our local churches to play out on Christmas Day. When there have been floods and snow, Neil has used his 4x4 to help listeners get to appointments. Last year Neil rolled up his sleeves to build a hut for the transmitter equipment to move location and he is currently in talks to gain us a more sustainable studio.
