#MORSE and MORSE YOUTH

YSS

YSS delivers holistic, community-based support across Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Warwickshire. Our locally based teams work alongside individuals experiencing disadvantage, poverty, trauma and exclusion — supporting them to stabilise their circumstances, understand their rights and responsibilities, and move forward with confidence. We aim not simply to support people through crisis, but to enable individuals to shape futures that are safer, more secure and more hopeful.

MORSE (Making Our Roads Safer for Everyone) and MORSE Youth are our innovative safer roads initiatives funded by West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner, aiming to reduce harm caused on the roads of West Mercia by reducing the number of collisions, serious injuries and deaths. Support Workers provide one-to-one support for individuals committing driving offences to enable them to understand the root cause and consequences of their actions, to develop positive interventions and to overcome barriers in their lives.

Many road safety projects look only at the person’s driving skills. MORSE addresses these, but at its core is an innovative Safer Driving Behaviour Change model focused on longer term behaviour change. Alongside this our MORSE Youth service is focused on impulsivity, decision making and the importance of positive peer influence. The MORSE services are high quality, trauma informed interventions that promote rehabilitation and safer behaviours within our communities.

Since 2019, our skilled team have delivered a unique, evidence-based approach that has transformed lives, reduced road traffic offences, and enhanced community safety across the four counties.
