Martin Edmondson

Graduate Futures Institute

Martin Edmondson has led a remarkable turnaround of the Graduate Futures Institute (formerly AGCAS) over the last 12 months. Appointed Chief Executive in July 2024, he took charge during a period of financial uncertainty and declining member confidence driven by higher education budget cuts, with the future of the nearly 60-year-old charity at risk. Martin was appointed to stabilise it, rebuild confidence, and secure long-term sustainability while reinforcing its mission to ensure all students and graduates benefit from high-quality careers and employability support.

Central to Martin’s approach was putting members at the heart of the charity. He launched a consultation engaging around a quarter of the membership, which directly informed a focused improvement programme introduced in mid-2025. Following an external governance review, in September 2025 he secured board approval to implement structural reforms, streamlining decision-making, clarifying responsibilities, and empowering staff leadership.

Alongside this, he drove major organisational change, including launching a rebrand in January 2026, a new website and a modern CRM system to enhance data-driven decision making.

Under his leadership, the charity has seen record membership enquiries, returning former members, increased engagement, and its best-attended leadership conference to date. Martin has also elevated the organisation’s influence, securing unprecedented media coverage and positioning it as a trusted voice in parliamentary, policy, and sector discussions.

Through innovation, clarity of purpose, and values-led leadership, over the last 12 months Martin has transformed an organisation at risk of decline into one with renewed financial health, stronger membership, and a compelling social impact mission.
