Making Fashion Accessible for Blind & Low Vision People

Hair & Care

Making Fashion Accessible (MFA) is a ground-breaking initiative from Hair & Care CIC - a non-profit that works to create inclusive experiences for the sight loss community. Designed to challenge the current level of inaccessibility within the fashion industry, MFA helps to make designers' shows accessible and inclusive to blind and low vision individuals, through a range of audio and tactile experiences.

Since the start of 2024, we’ve made 6 major shows accessible across London and Copenhagen Fashion Weeks, partnering with designers Chet Lo, Roksanda, SS Daley and Sinéad O’Dwyer, providing immersive and sensory experiences for guests with sight loss.

We made history at Copenhagen Fashion Week, championing the inclusion of the first blind model to walk the runway in Copenhagen, with broadcaster and activist, Lucy Edwards, who walked the show with her guide dog. A milestone that captured international media attention and sparked industry-wide conversations about accessibility.

By making these shows accessible, MFA aims to drive lasting change and inspire a more inclusive fashion landscape. Importantly, it empowers blind and low vision individuals through meaningful and truly accessible experiences where they can feel welcome and included. This is more than access: it’s transformation, visibility, and real inclusion.
