Make Health Equal

The Health Foundation

Health Equals is a coalition of 27 organizations committed to making health equality a national priority. In the UK, life expectancy can vary by up to 16 years based on where you live—an injustice that demands urgent attention.

Ahead of the 2024 general election, we launched Make Health Equal, a bold campaign led by ‘Britain’s Youngest Protest’—giving a voice to the generation most at risk of poorer health. Through powerful storytelling, real families, and interactive tools, we engaged the public, driving 970,000 website views and 175,000 postcode searches.

Our impact reached Parliament, with over 70 MPs joining our Parliamentary Champions Network and direct engagement with Keir Starmer and Wes Streeting. Media coverage in The Guardian, BBC, and ITV amplified our message. Public attitudes shifted, with the belief that health responsibility lies solely with individuals dropping from 25% to 10%.

This was more than a campaign—it was a movement. With 72% of the public now supporting government-led action on health inequality, the fight to Make Health Equal is well underway.
