She has halted years of decline in both fundraising and research spend and has implemented a new strategy to return the charity to growth.
Despite all this, Gemma has always been determined go about her work in the right way. The reward has been a positive working culture, in which individuals are empowered to take risks and innovate. Staff satisfaction has soared during Gemma's tenure, while turnover has dropped to historic lows.
