Gaza Emergency Response Team
WAR CHILD UK
Comprising six dedicated Gaza-based professionals — Samah, Mohammed, Nidaa, Ahmed, Ibrahim, and Mohanad — the team has worked tirelessly to support local partner organisations and meet the basic humanitarian needs of children and families, including food, water, shelter, and hygiene essentials.
Crucially, they have also delivered vital mental health and psychosocial support for children and caregivers, provided safe spaces for play and learning, and trained caregivers to support traumatised children.
They have reached over 180,000 people - including more than 120,000 children. Their efforts include over 18,000 psychological first aid sessions, management of 580 orphaned or separated child cases, and recreational and educational support for thousands.
Despite unimaginable personal loss and daily life-threatening risks, this small team continues to bring hope, healing, and dignity to Gaza’s children. Their courage, compassion, and commitment make them not only frontline humanitarians, but lifelines in a devastated region. They are deeply deserving of the Frontline Team of the Year award.
