Farming tailored counselling services and mental health training

Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution

Farming people are an indispensable part of UK life. They feed our families, weave the fabric of the land and act as custodians of the countryside. But farming can be challenging. Once in a generation policy change, Brexit and a multitude of other issues means farming people are facing more uncertainty than ever before.

RABI have been supporting the farming community for over 160years through practical, emotional, and financial support. In 2021, RABI shared the findings of their Big Farming Survey - the largest national survey of farming mental health and wellbeing ever conducted. The statistics were shocking and showed that poor mental health and wellbeing were hiding in plain sight. RABI believe farming people deserve better. Based on these findings, RABI worked in collaboration to launch a farming tailored professional counselling service and accredited mental health training. Available in person and free to the farming community to support better futures for farming people. RABI have developed an innovative service offer true to their vision that ‘no member of the farming community should have to face adversity alone’.
