Experts by Experience Employment Initaitive

Experts by Experience Employment Initiative is a refugee-led organisation breaking down barriers to employment and leadership for refugees and migrants across the UK.

Founded in 2022, our organisation combines direct employability support with organisational change work to create more inclusive recruitment practices across the charity sector. With a team of just four staff members, supported by volunteer mentors and lived experience advisers, we built a national network of 184 organisations and delivered impact far beyond its size.

We published more than 2,000 jobs, delivered 360 mentoring sessions supporting 205 refugees, and helped 91 people secure employment. At the same time, we worked directly with charities and employers to improve recruitment processes through inclusive recruitment training, policy development, and lived experience-led consultancy.

At a time of growing hostility towards refugees and migrants, Experts by Experience Employment Initiative is changing the narrative, championing refugees not only as beneficiaries, but as leaders and changemakers shaping a more inclusive society.
