Food Foundation and Coop, Tesco, Coop Central England, Lidl, Iceland, Sainbury's and ]Waitrose

The Food Foundation has worked closely with 7 major supermarkets on Marcus Rashford’s End Child Food Poverty Task Force to secure greater access to vital fruit and vegetables for very low-income parents and children by adding value to the Government’s Healthy Start Scheme. The partnership has enabled more than 580,000 low-income families eligible for the scheme to secure better access to nutritious food during the Covid-19 pandemic. It has increased awareness for the scheme leading to thousands of families who were struggling to afford a healthy diet, now directly benefiting from the scheme. Working together with the retailers and Marcus Rashford on the End Child Food Poverty campaign helped to secure Government support to increase the value of the Healthy Start vouchers from £3.10 to £4.25 making healthy food much more accessible to low-income young families.
