Communications and Creative Team

Islamic Relief UK

The Islamic Relief UK communications team is made up of media, advocacy and public affairs, and the creative content teams.

The team is a key part of our response to the ongoing fight we face against Islamophobia, which is one of the greatest challenges we face, and bolster our reputation and message communication more broadly. Advocacy’s brilliant relationships with key stakeholders provide valuable alliances, the media team fights a constant firestorm of attacks and pushing back with positive stories, and the creative content team make our output compelling and professional.

Despite the nature and scale of our challenges we know that quick fixes and cutting corners is not the way forward. Compelling storytelling, ethical approaches to shaping the stories of our rightsholders (focussing on informed consent and the impression left by content we share), and campaigning for long-term, systematic change are all at the heart of our ethos.

The team has epitomised performance under pressure, representing the organisation with brilliance in an incredibly hostile climate and helping mitigate the effects of said climate.

Their numerous outputs demonstrate a mastering of various areas of skills, as well as a true understand of the context we operate in and the work we do. The way in which they draw on internal and external partners to create something bigger means that the organisation is able to bolster its reputation and communications with vital audiences, underpinning all the work we do – and the lives we save.
