Challenge PMW

PMW Communications

PMW Communications, a full-service marketing agency, launched Challenge PMW to deliver lasting improvements for local charities, schools and community groups across Sussex. Inspired by the 1990s TV show Challenge Anneka, the initiative called on organisations to put forward renovation projects where hands-on support could make a genuine difference.

From 46 nominations, PMW selected four projects with the greatest potential impact: Citizens Advice West Sussex (Horsham), The Laburnum Centre (Bognor Regis), Palatine Primary School (Worthing) and The Y Centre (Hastings). Each required significant improvements, from outdated interiors to underused or inaccessible spaces.

Working in four separate groups with each taking ownership of a project through to completion, the PMW team continued to collaborate and work together to share their skills, contacts and resources so that each project got the attention it deserved.

Team members went far beyond their usual roles – sourcing donations, coordinating trades, fundraising and carrying out physical work, including painting, building, cleaning and installation, as well as driving, collecting and delivering materials.

The result was the complete transformation of four community spaces at no cost to the organisations. PMW secured thousands of pounds worth of materials and support from 26 local businesses, to create welcoming, functional environments that will benefit vulnerable residents, older people, children and young people for years to come.

Challenge PMW demonstrates the power of collaboration in communities, showing how one communications agency can use its marketing expertise to bring communities together to deliver tangible, lasting social impact and real-world change for those around them.
