Support Group Leaders

Cardiomyopathy UK

Cardiomyopathy UK’s Support Group Leader team is a dedicated network of over 40 volunteers spanning all four nations of the UK. Most live with cardiomyopathy or support someone who does—bringing unmatched empathy, resilience, and authenticity to their roles. United by a shared belief that no one should face this condition alone.

In October 2024, the team set out to welcome 210 new attendees to our peer support groups within 12 months. They achieved this in just six. Their impact extends far beyond numbers: they’ve created safe, welcoming spaces where people affected by cardiomyopathy can share, learn, and feel less alone.

Each leader juggles personal health challenges, families, and careers—yet they give their time, energy, and heart to others. They host meetings, invite guest experts, offer one-to-one support, and build genuine community.

Their work is life-changing. Members describe feeling seen, supported, and empowered—often for the first time in years.

These volunteers don’t just deliver peer support. They deliver hope. They are role models, advocates, and the living embodiment of our mission. Their compassion and commitment truly transform lives—and that’s why they deserve this award.
