Can't Wait to Learn

WAR CHILD UK

‘Can’t Wait to Learn’ is War Child’s groundbreaking EdTech programme addressing the urgent global education crisis, particularly in conflict and emergency settings. With 72 million children out of school and another 127 million lacking foundational skills, this initiative harnesses the power of digital technology to provide quality, effective learning opportunities to those most in need. Its scientifically-tested, evidence-based methodology supports children affected by war, aiming to improve literacy and numeracy while fostering emotional wellbeing.

Designed with and for children, the programme features self-paced, curriculum-aligned educational games available both online and offline. Delivered in partnership with local organisations, NGOs and governments, it ensures cultural relevance and rapid deployment in crises. In 2024, the programme supported over 136,700 children across nine countries, navigating complex conflicts and securing full endorsement from the Ukrainian Ministry of Education as the nation’s largest personalised learning platform.

Honoured with the Yidan Prize for Education Development, ‘Can’t Wait to Learn’ continues to prove its impact, with research in Lebanon, Uganda and Ukraine showing strong improvements in maths and reading outcomes. War Child is committed to refining and scaling the programme to reach one million children in the next five years, ensuring no child is left behind.
