C360 Community Transport Team

Community360

Community360's community transport frontline team delivers over 36,000 passenger journeys every year across Colchester, Chelmsford, and Maldon, ensuring that older, disabled, and isolated residents can access healthcare, essential services, and social connection. Waiting lists regularly exceed 500 passengers and daily demand routinely outstrips available resources, yet this team consistently fulfils 80 to 85 per cent of all eligible transport requests.

That achievement is not just operational. It is human. Drivers, coordinators, transport planners, and customer service staff work alongside more than 100 volunteer drivers, who together contribute over 10,300 hours annually, to deliver services that many residents describe as a lifeline. They do so against a backdrop of funding pressures, driver shortages, and reduced fleet availability, without compromising on the quality of care they provide.

This is a team that understands it is not just moving people from one place to another. It is reducing loneliness, preventing missed medical appointments, supporting hospital discharge, and enabling independent living. For many passengers, the driver who collects them each week is their most consistent human contact. The team takes that responsibility seriously.

At a time when rural transport provision is in decline and demand for community-led alternatives is growing, Community360's transport frontline team stands out for its resilience, compassion, and measurable impact. They deserve recognition not only for what they deliver, but for how they deliver it: with dignity, consistency, and genuine care for every person they serve.
