Business Beats Cancer Edinburgh

Business Beats Cancer Edinburgh (BBCE) is a volunteer fundraising board operating as part of Cancer Research UK. The board is the fundraising team – eight working professionals plus two ambassadors, with no paid staff and no operating budget. Every pound we raise is raised by us, in our own time, from our own networks for the CRUK Scotland Centre in Edinburgh. In the past year we raised approximately £235,000: our Annual Dinner - https://readymag.website/u1153454221/AnnualDinner2026/ - delivered £150k net in May 2026, Take On 7 Hills - https://readymag.website/u1153454221/TakeOn7Hills/ - raised £65k, and a broadened partner programme added the rest – £7,850 from St James Quarter STYLE, with ~£10k expected from The Marketing Society Star Awards in June. Our total raised now sits at over £900,000 and we’re proud to say we’re on track to reach £1 million raised by 2026's end.

We are not a typical fundraising team. We are a team of CEOs, lawyers and senior professionals, the majority of whom have lived through cancer or cancer-related loss, juggling fundraising alongside demanding careers, families and the same economic pressures currently affecting charities everywhere. We also operate within CRUK’s strict 75:25 model – meaning at least 75p of every £1 raised goes directly to research.

Still, we are now recognised inside CRUK as the highest-performing Business Beats Cancer board in the UK, contributing nearly a quarter of the £4.1m+ raised across the national network. All from a single city, powered entirely by volunteers determined to turn personal experiences into measurable progress.
