Business Beats Cancer Edinburgh (BBCE)

"Powering progress and turning pain into purpose" Business Beats Cancer Edinburgh (BBCE) is a small, volunteer-led organisation with a big ambition: to bring the city's business community together to help beat cancer – turning the personal pain that drives so many of us into real, measurable progress. We are an arm of Cancer Research UK, but really, we are eight working professionals and two ambassadors. No paid staff, no operating budget. Every pound we raise goes directly to the Cancer Research UK Scotland Centre in Edinburgh. In seven years, we have raised £901,149 and are on track to hit £1 million by end of 2026. We are recognised inside CRUK as the highest-performing Business Beats Cancer board in the UK, contributing nearly a quarter (22%) of the £4.1m+ raised across the national network – from one city, one business community, a small group balancing busy lives and day jobs. The past 12 months were our most ambitious and creative yet. We raised approximately £235,000 across our two flagship events – the 2026 Annual Dinner and Take On 7 Hills – and two new partner positions: St James Quarter STYLE in March (where we delivered a Catwalk for Cancer Research featuring 20 cancer survivors) and The Marketing Society Star Awards in June. This money funds work that gets us closer to earlier diagnosis, better treatments and more time with loved ones. That's what a small organisation can do when its people are in it for all the right reasons.
