Band of Builders

Band of Builders (BoB) was born in 2016 when its founder took to social media to ask for help renovating the home of a close friend and colleague who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. The response from tradespeople across the UK saw the project completed and demonstrated what can be achieved when the industry stands together.

From that point Band of Builders embarked on a mission to carry out more projects and today has grown to become a registered charity that completes practical projects to help members of the UK construction industry battling illness or injury. BoB has an active community of nearly 50,000 tradespeople and supporters and in November 2022, reached the milestone of delivering £1m worth of projects. It has received widespread support from the construction industry and its work has featured in newspapers, radio and television across the world. As well as practical support, the charity provides financial support for tradespeople. It has also developed a mental health initiative dubbed the Big Brew, which raises awareness of the mental health crisis in the construction industry. This has allowed BoB to fund and launch a mental health service to support tradespeople, including counselling and a text service.
