Amy Chambers

Rays of Sunshine

Since becoming CEO of Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity, Amy Chambers has led one of the most significant transformations in the organisation's 22-year history.

Taking over during a period of financial uncertainty, operational challenges and declining visibility, Amy implemented a comprehensive turnaround strategy that has restored stability, confidence and ambition across the charity. Working closely with trustees, she led an organisational restructure that reduced annual expenditure by £1 million while protecting frontline services for seriously ill children and their families.

Within 12 months, Rays of Sunshine moved from a planned deficit of approximately £700,000 to a projected surplus of £550,000 – a financial turnaround of more than £1.25 million.

Alongside financial recovery, Amy improved service delivery, reduced waiting times for families, rebuilt relationships with healthcare professionals and developed the charity's first comprehensive organisational strategy. This ambitious plan will double the charity's reach, grow income to £4.5 million and significantly increase the number of children and families supported.

Amy has also transformed organisational culture, embedding a high-performing "One Team" approach founded on collaboration, accountability and shared purpose. Under her leadership, Rays of Sunshine was recognised as one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2026, with employee engagement reaching 96% and an Employee Net Promoter Score of 100.

Through courageous leadership, strategic vision and a relentless focus on impact, Amy has successfully repositioned Rays of Sunshine as a financially stable, high-performing charity with a clear and ambitious future.
