The Ambient Guardians are a group of people supported by Ambient who meet and work in partnership with staff and Ambient’s Quality Group, to ensure our services are the best they can be, enabling people to live fulfilling lives. Members are ambassadors for other people we support; by giving them a voice and ensuring they are heard. Ambient understood a group representative of the people supported was needed to aid understanding of what good quality care looks like. Unable to physically meet together due to Covid, an alternative was found and a virtual meeting space was arranged. The group bonded quickly, deciding not only the name ‘Ambient Guardians’ but helping develop and design their own identity and logo. Since inception the Guardians have improved the ways Ambient are involving people in all aspects of decision making. They have co designed and co-produced new resources, delivered training, developed an involvement video, recommended improvements to policies and procedures and improved communication between the charity and people supported. They take an integral role in informing the charities Quality Strategy. The Guardians inspire everyone at Ambient to keep striving to provide robust, rights-focused, personalised care from the point of view of people themselves.
