Alzheimer's Society

Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer – one in three people born today will go on to develop the condition. Alzheimer’s Society exists to create a future where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by providing help for people living with dementia now, and hope for the future through research, innovation and our campaigning activity.

We are at a pivotal time for dementia – the science is flying, with dozens of clinical trials for new treatments and developments in diagnosis – but dementia is not currently given the priority it urgently needs.

The last 12 months have been truly exceptional for Alzheimer's Society – at a time when the sector as a whole is struggling, we are bucking every trend. In the last year, we have raised more money than ever before, secured some astonishing partnerships, have been involved in incredible developments in research and, most importantly, supported more people affected by dementia – all while welcoming and settling in a new CEO, navigating the challenges of providing services in an increasingly cash-strapped system and safeguarding our vital advice and information as we step into a world driven by AI. (Our financial year runs April-March. Wherever possible we have given figures relating to the eligible date range but in some cases this hasn’t been possible. Our fundraising totals are for the financial year, as are some of our service statistics. I checked this with Freya Spath before entering, who assured us it wouldn’t be an issue.)
