Alison Steadman

Marie Curie

Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end-of-life charity, is delighted to nominate actress Alison Steadman OBE to be this year’s Celebrity Charity Champion. Alison began supporting Marie Curie after her beloved mother, Marjorie, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Marjorie was cared for by Marie Curie during the final years of her life, until her death in our Liverpool Hospice in 1996. As a result, Alison really understands and appreciates the value of our work, making her a truly authentic Marie Curie voice. And since then, Alison’s contribution to the charity has been nothing short of exceptional. For 15 years Alison has kindly given us her time, juggling her incredibly busy acting career to squeeze in media interviews, photo shoots, and other campaigning for us. She always takes time to really understand our campaigns, and effortlessly conveys our messaging to the public. Alison always responds quickly to our requests and is pure joy to work with. Her dedication is wonderful - if she can help, then she will! But whilst her support has always been special, during the past 12 months it has been simply phenomenal, creating exceptionally huge amounts of both awareness and fundraising.
