Alex Robins

Centrepoint Soho

Over thirteen years, Alex has quietly transformed how Centrepoint secures income to support young people facing homelessness. Joining in 2013 as a Trusts and Statutory Fundraising Officer, he immersed himself in frontline work, building relationships that enabled him to identify gaps in provision and develop funding proposals rooted in young people’s real needs.

This approach led to many successes, with Alex securing a total of over £3 million in his time in the team. This included securing a major grant which funded the development of Centrepoint’s Helpline and Youth Homelessness Databank – the former having supported over 50,000 young people since launch. Evidently, Alex’s contributions have directly enabled transformational support for young people.

In his current role as Fundraising Strategic Liaison Manager, Alex has reshaped collaboration between fundraising and frontline teams, ensuring funding bids are stronger and support is timely and relevant. His innovations, including the built-from-scratch Fundraising Knowledge Hub, have reduced pressure on frontline teams and allowed colleagues to focus on securing impactful funding, resulting in increased and more meaningful support for young people.

Alex’s commitment to Centrepoint goes beyond his daily work. He has participated in ten challenge events - including two half-marathons in 2025 - and personally raised over £5,500 for Centrepoint.

Thirteen years on, Alex’s influence is woven into Centrepoint’s operations. His work has enabled colleagues to focus on impactful funding opportunities, facilitated productive cross-team collaboration, and contributed to securing £18 million in donations. Though sometimes hidden, his contribution is foundational, making Alex our Unsung Hero.
