Age UK | Fundraising Team

Amidst a global pandemic, The Age UK Fundraising Team delivered Age UK’s single most successful year of fundraising, raising £74.83M against a budget target of £57.6M; ultimately delivering an extra £17M in the most challenging working year of their collective lifetimes. This was against the backdrop of Age UK losing hundreds of thousands of pounds every week that charity shops were shut, cancelled fundraising events, furloughed colleagues and a heavily reduced team due to all of our recruitment plans being put on ice. Under those most phenomenal circumstances the Age UK Fundraising team launched the Age UK Coronavirus Emergency Appeal – Age UK’s first ever national UK emergency appeal – turning the entire campaign creative around in just two weeks to raise £12.2M against a target of £10M in under 3 months Older people had never needed Age UK more than this last year. Those shielding were immediately cut off from basic food and medical supplies and Age UK colleagues on the front line in local communities, on our helplines were working 24/7. The Age UK fundraising team ultimately enabled direct, emergency support to hundreds of thousands of older people during what was for them a terrifying pandemic.
