Dr. Lasith Ranasinghe

Dr. Lasith Ranasinghe is a junior doctor based in London and the founder of a charity called Make a Medic. He was the winner of last year's Rising Star award. The charity, which he founded during medical school, creates affordable medical educational resources for students and uses the funds raised from sales to create grants for education and health-related initiatives in low- and middle-income countries. In its short history, Make a Medic has helped thousands of medical students pass their exams and has run numerous high impact initiatives abroad such as funding HIV prevention workshops in Zambia, vaccine training programmes in Uganda and fresh water and hygiene facilities in Kenya.
