Volunteering Manager, Royal Air Force Museum

Rachel Ball is Volunteering Manager at the Royal Air Force Museum, London and Director (Company Secretary) at the Association of Volunteer Managers.
Rachel has led volunteering in a variety of organisations – national and small independent museums and arts in mental health and carers charities.
At the Royal Air Force Museum Rachel has supported the Museum to increase and diversify the volunteering activity and offer across its teams, successfully growing the number of volunteers at the London site from 80 to 300 plus. Her role is to support departments to develop and enhance their volunteering offer and to be the champion for volunteering involvement and best practice across the Museum.
The Association of Volunteer Managers is a membership organisation ran for and by leaders of volunteers, with a vision for ‘Connecting leaders of volunteering to make change happen together’. Rachel is providing governance leadership, as well as focusing on ways to increase participation and a sense of community amongst its members.
Rachel is passionate about reducing the barriers to getting involved, making the process as simple and streamlined as possible, and offering a wide variety of opportunities, so there is something for everyone.
