Pregnancy Sickness Support (PSS) is a small charity supporting women across the UK who suffer from pregnancy sickness and specifically hyperemesis gravidarum (HG). With an income of around £35k pa and one employee working alongside their chairperson the impact the charity is having on a national scale is phenomenal. With a helpline, Peer Support Network for sufferers, various research projects, and an impressive media communication strategy PSS is making a massive difference to thousands of women affected by this misunderstood and stigmatised condition. PSS is leading the way in service development and treatment across the UK and is actively involved in research.
Our small charity is helping women and couples to have their families and survive a severe and often prolonged illness. HG can be a profoundly lonely condition and women find they are suddenly socially isolated and house bound at a time that they most need support. By providing ongoing peer support we are reducing the mental health impacts and enabling women to turn their traumatic experience into a positive by volunteering and supporting others.
