Hosted by Elephant Family in partnership with Selfridges, The Animal Ball is London’s most inspired and creative tribute to the animal kingdom and Europe’s biggest conservation fundraiser. On 22nd November 2016 40 of London’s finest restaurants, private members clubs and notable private homes simultaneously held animal-inspired dinner parties for 20 guests. Leaps of leopards, lion prides and prickles of porcupines made their entrance at the ball itself – all wearing couture animal masks designed by the world’s top fashion houses, from Burberry to Chloe and Jimmy Choo.
Ahead of The Animal Ball, the V&A museum exhibited Conservation Couture, The Animal Ball Collection, and showcased the bespoke designer masks to the public for a period of 10 days, communicating the plight of each respective animal. The exhibition was located in the museum’s dome and attracted an audience of 1,000+ visitors.
The event raised £1.7 million, and benefitted 3 other small, dynamic conservation NGOs. Funds raised were directed towards projects securing a future for elephants, lions and western lowland gorillas.
The event received 60+ pieces of print media coverage with a reach of 1.1+ billion across the globe, shining a spotlight on the plight of our planet’s most iconic yet endangered wildlife.
