MACS Supporting Children and Young People wanted to showcase our Annual Report that was designed and written by young volunteers in our organisation called the Shadow Board. The Shadow Board wanted a bright vibrant eye catching young person friendly document that their peers were likely to pick up and read but would also demonstrate the variety of successes across the different MACS services. Over the course of 9 months the Shadow Board drafted questions, completed interviews and worked on design and editing to bring a comic book version of the Annual Report based on the idea that all young people in MACS are heroes. With a focus on hero stories celebrating young people's achievements, superpowers focused on the strengths of staff and young people we wanted a powerful Annual Report that captured the vision and creativity of the organisation and the young people who created it. As a first attempt at giving the young people the freedom and support to create an Annual Report we feel they have done an incredible job in capturing the vibrancy of what MACS ethos and culture is all about - keeping young people at the heart of what we do.
