Croydon may not immediately come to mind when thinking of the areas of greatest need in London, but the numbers of rough sleepers and levels of deprivation are some of the worst to be found.
Crisis was determined to place itself at the heart of this urgent need. By opening a Skylight centre we can offer a safe place for hundreds of homeless and vulnerable people to work with us to find a way out of homelessness.
The Croydon Capital Appeal launched in July 2016 with the aim of raising over £285,000 to help towards the costs of refurbishing the building. Crisis’ donors responded with huge generosity, raising £377,333 – well above the appeal target – ensuring the new centre became a reality.
The appeal was developed as part of an innovative new strategy of hybrid stewardship, between the direct marketing and major donor teams, to achieve this success.
