Calderdale Flood Fund

Community Foundation for Calderdale

‘community, kindness, hard graft, a shoulder to cry on, friendship, pies and curry, resilience, laughter, help from strangers, sharing, strong tea, yorkshire grit… what got us through the floods of 2015’

The Boxing Day Floods were devastating for 1000’s of Calder Valley residents. The swift action taken by The Community Foundation for Calderdale (CFFC) meant that within 8 weeks over £1.5m was collected and qualified for matched government funding. Managing funds donated from individuals, companies and other charitable organisations CFFC acts as the vital link between donors and local needs by connecting people with causes enabling clients to achieve far more than they could by themselves.

Emma Bolger (CFFC) “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of individuals, businesses and charities from across the UK. Within hours of launching our LocalGiving appeal page thousands of pounds arrived, rising to an average of £40k per day at the height of the Appeal. These donations support 1000’s of individuals and 100’s of businesses. Every day we process more grants and support more people.”

Steve Duncan (CEO – CFFC) “this has simply been the most rewarding and humbling experience of my life – talking with and meeting so many resilient, positive, generous and genuine people.”
